Redwoods Lunch Club

Who Are We?

Our award winning Monday lunch club, based in the Redwoods building (old library), opened its doors In December 2013.

The club is run on Mondays between 11:00am and 1:00pm. There are currently two groups that meet every other Monday, with a total of 25 members in each group.

We start with tea and coffee then hold a quiz or a game of bingo. Since the start of 2024, we have been able to invite a variety of speakers who support the local community to join us, such as Dan’s Coaches, Fox & Co Jewellers, Communities Together, Stowmarket Carnival, Singing for the Brain and we’ve even asked local school Choirs to join us too.

The cooked lunch is made in-house by a professional Chef, which caters to either a meat or vegetarian option to choose from. We then enjoy a classic homemade dessert prepared by our volunteers, followed by a raffle – costing just £1 for 5 tickets.

It costs £6.50, which includes teas and coffees.

Red Gables projects are dementia friendly and our building is fully wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet available. A carer should also attend with those needing a higher level of assistance, but our friendly volunteer team are available to lend a hand where appropriate to make everyone welcome.

The Lunch Club has funding support from Stowmarket Town Council, The Gipping Branch of Oddfellows and McCarthy Stone.
