ABOUT US

The Charity

Mid Suffolk Voluntary Organisations Forum owns Red Gables and has been a registered charity and Company Limited by Guarantee since 1998.

The Red Gables building and adjacent Redwoods (the old Stowmarket library) is owned by the Charity who bought the buildings from Mid Suffolk District Council in 1997.

Our Mission

Our vision is to create a lively and inviting community hub in the centre of Stowmarket that will provide attractive and affordable accommodation, and stimulate activity for the benefit of everyone.

Our Facilities

Red Gables

Red Gables is a Victorian red brick building that provides office space to small charities at affordable rates. Whilst the majority of rooms are leased voluntary and community organisations who support people in Mid Suffolk and the surrounding area we have several rooms available to hire on an ad-hoc basis.

Redwoods Building

Built in 1939 by Octavius Seaman for his daughter Phyllisโ€™s birthday the Redwoods building began life as Stowmarketโ€™s old library.

In 2012, it was refurbished and named โ€˜Redwoodsโ€™.

Today it is a fully accessible facility that provides a large activity and meeting space with a modern kitchen. Adjoined is an attractive garden room for smaller meetings that overlooks our attractive and well-maintained 1.5-acre grounds.

The Gardens

Maintained by our very own Red Gables Garden Project, the gardens are one of the great things about Red Gables.

The mixture of formal gardens and woodland areas create an enchanting space for members of the public to enjoy.
