Go Green Go wild
Come get Involved
In October half term every other year, Stowmarket Town Council hold an environmental themed, family friendly event called ‘Go Green Go Wild’. The aim of the event is to inspire and educate young people about the value of wildlife and the importance of protecting the environment. This exciting event is free to attend and is held at the Milton House grounds and at Stowmarket Scout Centre between 10.30am-2.30pm.
The day is jam-packed with lots of exciting interactive stalls and free activities for all the family. Environmental organisations that attend often include Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Suffolk Tree Warden Network, Stowmarket Eco Future Group, Pickerel Project, Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust, Beyond the wall, Mid Suffolk District Council (Food Savvy) Our Animal World and many more!
You can meet the reptiles, insects and animals from My Animal World and learn about how they adapt to the environment, take part in a bug hunt around the grounds and help to build a giant bug hotel. You can also find story tellers, make willow crowns and other eco-friendly crafts as well as enjoying the free eco-friendly rides.
In October 2023, our Volunteers of Stowmarket team got involved by running the refreshments cafe with cakes kindly donated by the 1936 Regal Café, which included delicious vegan and gluten free options. Then in October 2025 we ran an outdoor stall, whilst discussing what goes on at Red Gables and presenting our two wooden frame games ‘Litter bug’ which teaches all ages how to use a litter pick and the ‘Pollin-8’ game. Our neighbouring stalls the Stowmarket Eco Future Group hosted their free welly swap, crafts and a ‘make a pond’ activity, whilst the Pickerel Project provided information on keeping the river Gipping clean and tidy.
Both years were a huge success with approximately 5000+ attendees with most staying throughout the day. We look forward to the next event! To find out about upcoming Stowmarket Town Council events, please check their website or Facebook page
